Its share of the total profits of the banking system is 14.9% although its share of the total equity of the system is only 5.3%. All its efficiency parameters are above average for the country’s banking sector.
With asset growth of 45.2% in 2006, following 29.9% growth the previous year, this universal commercial bank has implemented key initiatives in recent years to improve various channels of service delivery, including SMS-banking and internet banking. At present, more than 30% of customers’ payment orders are done electronically. In 2006, BPS joined Visa International, and in April this year it started issuing smart cards and is now the second largest card issuer in the country.
