The bank has kept a sharp focus on cost containment to promote profitability. It also achieved sustainable growth of its asset base by increasing the loan book and eliminating unprofitable assets.
Last year, Banco del País acquired the local savings and loan group La Constancia. As a result, it is now the country’s principal provider of home loans. In recognition of its strong progress, the bank was granted a major loan by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration, as well as credit lines from international multilateral agencies, which helped to finance the country’s export sector. It has considerably reduced the turnaround time on all customer transactions.
“We continue our successful evolution on the Honduran financial market thanks to a short-to-long-term plan and the ordered achievement of our strategies, and their professional execution by our staff,” says chief executive Bueso Araujo. “This has allowed us to take over another financial institution, increase the customer portfolio, diversify the product offering and strengthen service quality. Such constant growth has given us a privileged situation in Honduras.”
