Iceland has become the first state to issue a gender bond, leveraging its status as the world’s most gender-equal society. 

The €50mn inaugural gender bond, announced on Monday and arranged by BNP Paribas, had a 3.4 per cent fixed-rate coupon and a three-year maturity.
