Indonesia’s banks see return to Tier 1 capital growth

Banks have seen solid gains in Tier 1 capital after falling down the ranking last year

Indonesia’s banks are enjoying a period of increased Tier 1 capital, buoyed by a period of strong economic growth and a stable operating environment. Fitch Ratings upgraded the country’s operating environment for banks to BB+ in May of this year, and forecast profitability to increase in the coming years.  

Such optimism is reflected in Indonesian lenders’ positions in the Top 1000 ranking, as many have bounced back from a decline in Tier 1 capital in last year’s rankings.
