Growth continued, especially in the loan sector: one in every three mortgages in Latvia is issued by Hansabanka. The bank dramatically expanded its consumer lending, doubling its loan volume with new products. New services were launched, including the ability to deposit funds via ATMs and WAP banking services – about 95% of all payments by private individuals are processed through e-banking. The bank is among the first to start offering life insurance products in the country and has expanded its investment product range.

Part of Sweden’s Swedbank Group, Hansabanka is the clear market leader and Q307 results show that it has continued to grow in all key market segments. At the end of September, it had 855,000 clients – 804,000 private individuals and 51,000 corporate clients. The total number of second-pillar pensions reached 373,000 at the end of September, meaning that one in three of the working population has entrusted their second-pillar pension savings to Hansabanka Group.

“By introducing business intelligence and operational excellence into its daily operation, the bank strives for exceptional performance and creation of the financial adviser’s role in the community,” says chairman Maris Avotins. “Both great image (reputation leader among Latvian enterprises for three years) and exceptional financial performance would not have been achieved without the efforts of every individual employee. For three years in a row the bank was recognised as the best employer in Latvia, which proves the competence of the bank’s personnel management in addressing concerns of employee loyalty and an effective incentive system.”
