At the same time, the bank has been constantly lowering its NPLs and reducing its cost-income ratio.

“This is the third consecutive year that Bank of Valletta is being named Bank of the Year in Malta by The Banker,” says chief executive Tonio de Pasquale. “During 2007, the bank has retained its leading role, taking full advantage of the business opportunities that have presented themselves as a result of Malta’s development as an international financial centre.

“With Malta set to adopt the euro as its currency from January 1, 2008, Bank of Valletta has been appointed as the official partner bank of the national euro changeover committee. This appointment places the bank at the forefront of financial and economic developments in Malta at this important and historic time. It also provides the bank with the potential to further consolidate its market position and to tap new business opportunities.

“The solid foundations and strong fundamentals that underpin our business enable us to look ahead with confidence. For the coming period, the Bank of Valletta Group will continue to deliver on its brand promise, built on an unconditional commitment to a consistent and excellent customer experience based on the principles of supportiveness and mutuality.”
