Strengthening its position among the top three banks in Slovakia, Tatra managed a 27.5% increase in net profits to Kcs3bn (€100m) on the back of improved productivity, with cost-income ratio lowered significantly to 54.9% and RoE boosted to a healthy 29.0%. Total assets rose 13.3% and Tier 1 capital was up 10.2%.

In the dynamic retail market, Tatra moved to second place in new loans in 2006 with a 28.8% expansion of loans to Kcs104.4bn. Meanwhile, deposits grew 20% to Kcs159.5bn, the bank’s market share in mutual funds increased from 26% to 33% and in credit cards from 46.1% to 47.3%, maintaining its position as market leader in credit cards. It is also leader in payment cards with 1.2 million issued and a 27% share of the market.

In the corporate sector, Tatra retained a stable market share in corporate loans (18.2%) and deposits (26.4%), and increased the volume of receivables financed by factoring products by 52% thereby becoming the third largest player in the sector. While expanding its overall loan portfolio in 2006, the bank also reduced its NPL ratio by more than half to a relatively low 1.18%.
