In 2005, its net profits rose by 29.8% and assets were up 24.4%, providing a stable 12.4% RoE.

In 2005, NLB purchased four banks: Euromarket banka in Podgorica in Montenegro; Continental banka in Novi Sad in Serbia; and, in Bosnia & Herzegovina, Razvojna banka in Banja Luka and Tuzlanska banka in Tuzla.

President and CEO Marjan Kramar says: “Winning the Slovenian Bank of Year 2006 award is eloquent proof that NLB is a trustworthy bank with an excellent starting point for further evolution.

“Top quality operations and reliable financial results are confirmed by excellent international credit risk ratings. We have managed to consolidate our position as the largest Slovenian international financial group and we are becoming an important actor in a number of foreign markets.

“In 2005, the group was joined by eight new members, four of which were banks, two leasing companies and one a newly founded pension company. Today, the NLB Group has 55 members in Slovenia and 15 in foreign markets, providing numerous combinations of financial services through 14 banks, 10 leasing companies, 12 companies involved in factoring and forfeiting, three insurance companies, an asset management company, and 15 companies engaged in other fields. The total assets of the NLB Group are approaching €15bn, and the number of customers has already reached three million.”
