The key strategy was focused on the greater China market, encompassing Hong Kong, China and Vietnam. The bank integrated its overseas branches and securities operations in the region to provide a full range of financial products to Taiwan-related clients abroad.

Syndicated loans were also a part of the bank’s core strategy. FCB established links with well-known major players to seek new opportunities and diversify its overseas loan assets. A loan distribution team was built to sell booked loan assets in the secondary market to expand fee income.

FCB’s wealth management service, comprising trust, custody and insurance, ranked second in the Taiwanese market. The business targeted new accounts, particularly high net worth individuals, by offering a range of investment products. A wealth management service desk was set up in Hong Kong and an online sales system for wealth management was launched last year.

The bank’s updated corporate structure has boosted staff cohesion and created a fully supportive environment within the group, leading to a higher level of customer loyalty and satisfaction. FCB was awarded the ISO 27001 Certificate, reflecting its pursuit of operational excellence and the high international standard of its IT systems. After a history of 108 years, the bank is a role model of innovation and success in the financial sector.

“Our mission is to maintain the organisation’s position as a role model of innovation in Taiwan’s banking sector by pursuing steady business growth, generating earnings and developing new products,” says chief executive Chin Yun Wu. “In doing so, we will keep ahead of competition and respond quickly to any rapid change in the global finance services industry.”
