Global mergers and acquisitions values have bounced back from last year’s lows even as the number of deals fell significantly, according to data for the first half of the year from Mergermarket.

M&A activity grew by 17 per cent year over year in value terms to $1.6tn in the first half of 2024, according to Mergermarket, with the company noting a healthy stream of dealmaking involving large listed companies for the first six months of the year, particularly in the US and UK.
