Rising complaints about current account fraud and credit card scams have driven a steep rise in complaints against financial firms submitted to the UK’s Financial Ombudsman Service.
In its twice yearly data update released in May, the Financial Ombudsman Service found “banking and credit” complaints spurred a 20 per cent overall increase in overall complaints in the last six months of 2023 compared to the same period a year earlier, with current accounts and credit cards making up over 40 per cent of total cases.
